My Review
I am a huge fan of Gail’s work. I have her Parasol Protectorate series so I was very excited about this book.
The story is set in Victorian London and about a 14 year old girl named Sophronia. She is always getting into trouble and does not act like a proper lady so her mother ships her off to a finishing school. What her mother does not know is that at Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality, the girls do not just learn proper etiquette, but also learn espionage, about weapons, and poisons, among other things.
I absolutely loved this book. It was a quick read and I could not put it down. The finishing school is on a FLOATING airship! Yes, amazing. She is always getting into trouble and does not follow the rules. Sophronia is a great heroine. Gail Carriger also kept her wit in this book, which is a reason I fell in love with her books in the first place. If only I could join this finishing school!
